Costume Design |

As a costume designer, I approach my work from the director’s vision because I always want to work from a place of collaboration. This is a sampling of my design work. It includes a variety of genres and styles and types of venues.

About Nelson Fields

I found my way into the costume studio in 1975 and have not looked back since. Initially, I found I loved making costumes – I like to work with my hands. Then the design bug bit, but not before I established strong costume making skills. I like to think of myself as a sculptor. I derive a great deal of satisfaction working with fabric; I understand how it moves and can be manipulated through painting, dyeing or embellishment. I collaborate with the director and actor to sculpt an image for the character or, I enjoy working with a designer to craft their vision for the character.
